The West Metro Home Remodeling Fair was a busy show- Linda Asche, Jeanne Strauss, and Kathy Larson are just a few of the coordinators for the show and help make it a great one.
I must have talked with 25 or 30 people during the course of the day. The folks I talked to at this show had a much larger variety of projects they wanted to discuss. We talked with 3 folks about kitchen makeovers and 5 people about bathroom makeovers. The rest of the projects seemed to be additions and basements with a small smattering of porches. We did talk to one woman about a universal design project.
I enlisted the help of Mom to watch the booth while I did a seminar on cutting energy bills for under $150.00.
The seminar had about 15 people in it and the discussion was lively. The questions people most often asked us seemed to be centered around making sure they were doing the right thing. I was asked, “Do you think this is a good idea?” or I was even asked “Do you think this idea is a mistake?”
We had our drawing for the show, the winners have not returned my phone call. So as of yet the prize is unclaimed. We offer a prize of $750.00 worth of design and draw the prize on the Monday following each show. Our prize selection process would make even the Minnesota Lottery officials take notice. Monday morning I have my 5 year old Max reach into the bowl and pull a name out. This year we did get one person who used a made up name, a made up phone number and a made up e-mail address. While I realize the need to protect yourself from sales people calling, I didn’t understand the logic behind entering the drawing.
We did meet some great folks though and had lots of fun.
